For those who don't know, my mother fell yesterday morning at home. She has what they are calling a broken hip, but it's not her actual hip that's broken, it's the femur (thigh bone) way up at the top close to her hip. The doctor said after surgery that it was broken worse than it appeared on the x-rays and he put a rod in at her hip that goes to her knee. She'll probably be in the hospital for a couple of weeks (a few days in the actual hospital to recover from the surgery, and then a couple of weeks on the rehab floor). Depending on how well she does she may go home sooner.
